His most recent win there was just four months ago, which for a nine-year-old competing regularly at Class 2 — one of the top tiers of British racing — is genuinely impressive. Class 2 is a tough environment: he has won 2 from 24 races at that level, roughly 1 in every 12, which sounds modest until you consider how competitive those fields are.

His most trusted partner in the saddle is Callum Shepherd, who has ridden him in 21 races and won 4 of them — winning roughly 1 in every 5 rides together, or 19%. That is a noticeably better record than Tiger Crusade's overall win rate, which suggests the two have genuinely clicked. His part-owner has noted that the horse likes a bit of cut in the ground — not fast, dry conditions, but something slightly softer — and that he stays seven furlongs well, finishing races off strongly rather than leading from the front. Trainer David Simcock has described him as a horse who "enjoys the synthetics" — the artificial surfaces at tracks like Lingfield and Kempton — but is "very capable on turf" too when conditions suit.
