Owner Jimmy Fyffe was watching from the stands at Ayr and described seeing The Other Mozzie arrive at the fences full of running, practically on the bridle, and barely being able to watch. Fyffe had specifically bought him with Cheltenham in mind, wanting to place a better class of horse with trainer Gavin Cromwell, and the Ayr win was the payoff. Trainer L J Morgan, based at Waltham on the Wolds in Leicestershire, has sent out 14 winners this season and has quietly been building a yard capable of punching at the top level. At a stable tour in November 2025, Morgan spoke about The Other Mozzie's season ahead with real ambition — specifically floating the idea of the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, a significant step up in trip. Morgan was candid about the uncertainty: he is not sure the longer distance will suit, but felt it was worth exploring. That kind of honest, open assessment from a trainer is often a sign that a horse has already exceeded early expectations and now has the team thinking bigger.

The recent form figures — finishing 7th, well back, or pulled up across his last six runs — tell a more complicated story. He has not won since that Ayr high point 13 months ago, and his regular jockey Keith Donoghue has a 1-from-5 record together, winning 1 in 5. The question now is whether The Other Mozzie has more big days in him, or whether Ayr was the peak. The team clearly believes there is more to come.
