The Enabler

The Enabler is a seven-year-old trained by Gordon Elliott at his yard in Longwood, County Meath — one of the most powerful operations in Irish racing. Elliott's team has sent out 209 winners already this season alone, which is a staggering number and speaks to the sheer scale and quality of the operation. Having a horse trained there is a bit like having your car serviced at a Formula One garage. The Enabler's most regular partner in the saddle is Sam Ewing, who has ridden it in five of its races and won one of them — a win rate of roughly 1 in 5, or 20%, which is a perfectly respectable return.

The horse got off the mark at Punchestown in November 2023 and most recently won at Fairyhouse in December 2025, four months ago. That Fairyhouse win is the one to focus on — it came relatively recently, and the form since then (finishing third, then fourth, then third again in its last three completed runs) suggests a horse that is running well without quite getting its nose in front. That kind of form — podium finishes without the win — can mean the horse is in good shape and just waiting for the right race to fall its way.

Most notably, The Enabler raced just yesterday, so this is a genuinely active, in-form horse in the middle of a season rather than one being dusted off after a long break. Horses that race this regularly tend to be fit and tuned up, and with a yard firing at the rate Elliott's is, the confidence behind this horse will be high. If it finds a race where the pieces fall into place, another win would not come as a surprise at all.
