Test Run

That sole fourth-place finish tells us very little, honestly. One race is barely an introduction, and a fourth place could mean it ran well in a strong field or was simply outpaced on the day. What matters more is what comes next. Returning from a six-month absence, there will be plenty to learn about whether this horse has developed over the winter and what it might be capable of.

The one reassuring factor is who has the horse in their care. The Sheriff Hutton yard of Michael and David Easterby has sent out 53 winners this season alone, which is a yard firing on all cylinders. Horses trained there tend to be well-prepared, and a team producing that volume of winners clearly knows how to get a horse ready to run its best. If Test Run is going to show what it's made of, it's in good hands to do so.
