The real story of Taygar is temperament and ground. Dods has made it clear that she is difficult to handle — "tricky" is his word, and she has form for running too keenly, which quickly drains her chances. She needs soft or wet ground, and when she encounters fast, dry conditions, she never quite fires. Early in her career, she showed genuine speed, winning on her debut at Beverley in April 2023, but inconsistency has followed. Ridden most often by Connor Beasley, she has managed just one win from nine races together. Connor Beasley's partnership with her mirrors her general pattern: capability undermined by unreliability.

She typically races in Class 5 company, where her win rate drops to just 1 from 13 — a sharp contrast to what she showed at Ayr. Her recent form is troubling: from her last six races, she has finished outside the placings twice and only twice as runner-up. At five years old, she is established enough that improvement seems unlikely, yet good enough that when soft ground comes and her mood suits her, she remains competitive. Taygar is the sort of horse that keeps the yard hoping for the right day, the right ground, and the right frame of mind — and when all three align, as they did at Ayr in 2025, she is worth watching.
