Taipan

Trained by Jessica Harrington's yard at Moone, Co Kildare—a stable that has already sent out 53 winners this season alone—Taipan remains very much in the picture despite his age. He raced just a day ago and has form that reads 2nd, then three blanks, two eighth-place finishes, and a win over his last six outings. That recent win, however, hints at untapped potential: the trainer has plans for him to target conditions races before a summer campaign that will almost certainly include another crack at Galway, and possibly Listowel later in the year. Shane Foley has been his most regular rider, winning 2 of 11 races together, and the jockey appears to understand what makes Taipan tick. For a horse on the wrong side of seven, Taipan has become the kind of runner that turns a day at Galway into something special—a reminder that in racing, consistency of purpose and the right track matter just as much as raw talent.
