That said, there are reasons to stay interested. Two placings from five races shows Tactical Formation is competitive enough to be in the mix, even if the winning moment has not arrived yet. The most recent run, a tenth-place finish just yesterday, is the low point of the form book, but horses at this stage of their career can be frustratingly inconsistent before things click into place.
The stable behind the horse carries genuine weight. Richard and Peter Fahey train out of Musley Bank in North Yorkshire, and their yard has already sent out 23 winners this season — a healthy total that signals an operation very much in form. When a busy, successful yard keeps running a horse, it usually means they see something worth persevering with. Tactical Formation has not shown it yet in results, but the team clearly believes the breakthrough is coming.
