The form figures tell an honest story: seventh, fourth, third, fourth. That's a horse that began its career well off the pace, edged closer, then slipped back slightly. No wins yet, and only one placed finish to show from four attempts. That's a modest return, but plenty of horses take time to hit their stride, and four races is still a small sample.

Symphony Of Joy is trained by Kevin Frost at Averham Park in Nottinghamshire, a yard that has quietly been getting through plenty of winners this season — 25 in total, which is a solid body of work and a sign that horses leaving this stable are fit, ready, and in good form. The fact that Symphony Of Joy hasn't won yet isn't necessarily a reflection on the operation around it. Sometimes a horse just needs the right opportunity, and Frost and his team clearly know how to get horses to the line in good shape. Whether Symphony Of Joy can finally break that duck remains to be seen, but with an active campaign underway and a trainer firing on all cylinders this season, the chances will keep coming.
