The recent form shows no sign of a breakthrough either—five races without a place finish before that fifth-place effort, with a couple of fourteenth-place finishes mixed in. For a horse at this stage of its career, five years old or older, this kind of record suggests it may simply be running among horses that are too good for it, or that some other factor—the pace of races, the ground, the distances offered—is working consistently against it. Given how recently it raced, Supreme Law remains in work, but the numbers suggest a horse that, for whatever reason, has not found a way to win in conditions it has encountered so far.
