Second place wins nothing, but it does suggest the horse isn't hopelessly outclassed — it's been beaten, not demolished. Class 6 is the lowest tier of British racing — these are the most accessible, least competitive races on the calendar. Supreme Dancer has run in that grade eight times and hasn't won once. That's a tough stat to get around. The horse hasn't been able to win even at the easiest level it's been asked to compete at. It also hasn't raced for around four months, so returning from that kind of break adds another layer of uncertainty. Horses can come back refreshed and improved, or they can need a run or two to find their rhythm again. With Supreme Dancer's record, patience seems like the sensible approach.
