The recent form makes for particularly eye-catching reading. In the last six races, Super Survivor has won three of them — finishing first, first, first, then second, eighth, and second in that sequence going back further. The eighth-place finish stands out as the obvious blip, and there is a story behind it. Jamie Snowden has spoken openly about how the horse was sent to run in the Welsh National — one of the most gruelling staying races in the calendar, run over four miles on heavy, boggy ground — and simply got lost in the experience. It knocked his confidence badly. It took the best part of a year to piece him back together, but over hurdles he has rediscovered himself completely. Jockey Gavin Sheehan, who knows this horse better than almost anyone, described him after one win at Haydock as "a happier horse over hurdles." That counts for a lot.
Sheehan and Super Survivor are something of a partnership. The jockey has ridden him in 17 of his 20 races and has 8 wins to show for it — nearly one in every two rides together, a remarkable level of consistency between horse and rider. That kind of familiarity is worth more than statistics can easily capture.
The highest point of the career so far came at Huntingdon in January 2025, when Super Survivor won a Class 2 race — one of the top tier of races in British racing. His most recent win came at Warwick in March 2026, just two months ago, and he raced again only yesterday, confirming he is firmly in the middle of an active campaign. Snowden has hinted that a chase campaign could still be in the horse's future, suggesting there may be more to come. For now, Super Survivor looks like a horse that has genuinely earned his name — someone who went through a difficult chapter and came out the other side winning races at the highest level of his career.
