That sole victory came at Kelso in December 2024, and it remains the high point of a career that has otherwise been defined by nearly-but-not-quite. Eighteen months on from that day, the win hasn't been repeated, and the last six races have produced a fifth, a fifth, a no-show, a fourth, a runner-up, and a third — good enough to suggest the horse is in decent nick, but not good enough to suggest a second win is just around the corner. Racing raced just yesterday, Sunset Hill is clearly still very much in action.

The partnership with jockey Nathan Moscrop tells a similar story. The two have teamed up 15 times together, producing that one Kelso win — a win rate of 7%, or roughly 1 in every 14 rides. It's a long-standing combination, which usually suggests a yard that believes in sticking with what it knows, but results have been modest. Susan Corbett, who trains Sunset Hill from her base in Otterburn, Northumberland, has had a productive enough season — 11 winners sent out this term — so the talent is clearly there in the yard. It's just that Sunset Hill hasn't been the one delivering it.

Perhaps the most telling number in the whole profile is this: zero wins from nine races at Class 4 level. Class 4 is a solid, mid-tier level of competition, not the very top but not the bottom either, and the fact that Sunset Hill hasn't been able to win at that grade despite repeated attempts suggests the horse's ceiling may already have been reached on that December afternoon at Kelso. Eight places from 20 races is nothing to be embarrassed about — this is a horse that competes honestly and shows up regularly — but for anyone hoping to see Sunset Hill in the winner's enclosure again, patience is very much the order of the day.
