Jockey Robbie Colgan has partnered Suerte more than anyone else, riding the horse in 7 of those 10 races without a win to show for it. That kind of loyalty between horse and rider usually signals that the team genuinely believes the win is coming — you don't keep putting the same combination together if you've given up hope. Recent form, however, makes for difficult reading: a 13th-place finish is the most recent result, and looking back through the last six races, Suerte hasn't managed better than 6th. That's a sequence that suggests the horse is struggling to find its best.

The trainer is Ms Sheila Lavery, who operates out of Summerhill in Co. Meath and has sent out 3 winners already this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get horses to the front. The fact that Suerte hasn't broken through yet isn't for lack of a competent hand on the operation. Lavery's team will be hoping that whatever has been missing clicks into place soon — the horse raced just yesterday, so they're clearly still trying to find the right opportunity. Whether that opportunity arrives before the patience runs out is the question hanging over every run Suerte takes.
