The sire is Japan, a top-class racehorse in his own time and increasingly well-regarded as a stallion. The mother's side brings in Maxios, another high-quality influence. Breeding is never a guarantee, but this is a well-put-together pedigree for a horse being asked to prove itself for the first time.
The trainer is Charlie Johnston, who runs one of the most productive yards in the country out of Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire. With 128 winners already on the board this season, Johnston's operation is not short of confidence or capability. When a yard is firing at that rate, the horses they choose to debut are usually ones they believe are ready — and that tells you something in itself.
