The recent form tells an interesting story. Those back-to-back runner-up spots are the most eye-catching part of the profile: Sound Janet clearly has ability, but converting that into a win has so far proved elusive. Racing just yesterday, this is a horse very much in active campaigning, which means the yard — sorry, the team — clearly believe there is a race to be won somewhere.

That team is Julie Camacho's yard at Norton in North Yorkshire, and it is worth noting how well that operation is firing right now. Forty-six winners sent out this season is a serious number — this is a stable in form, not one coasting. When a busy, successful yard keeps running a horse, it usually means they see something worth persisting with. Sound Janet has been competing mainly at Class 5, the entry-level tier of British racing, going winless in all four races at that grade. That is a little surprising given the level — Class 5 is where horses are expected to find races they can win — and it is the one slightly concerning note in the profile. Two seconds suggest Sound Janet belongs in the conversation; the inability to convert at this level is the puzzle Camacho's team will be trying to solve.

There is enough here to stay interested. A horse that finishes second twice back-to-back is not out of its depth — it is a horse that needs the circumstances to fall right. With a sharp yard behind it and a race run as recently as yesterday, the first win feels closer than the bare record suggests.
