Son Of Man

Trained by Jim Boyle at Epsom in Surrey, Son Of Man races mainly at Class 4 level — the bread-and-butter tier of British racing, solid rather than spectacular — and has won 1 from 10 races at that grade. Boyle's yard has been in good nick this season, sending out 25 winners, so Son Of Man isn't operating in a struggling setup. He's just been a bridesmaid more often than a winner.

His most recent win came at Lingfield Park on 3 April 2026, around seven weeks ago, and his form since then tells a decent story: in his last six races he has finished third, third, fifth, first, second, and third (reading back from the most recent). That's one win and four other placed efforts from six — a horse running with real consistency right now. He raced just yesterday, which tells you he's fit and active.

The curious subplot here involves his regular jockey Paddy Bradley, who has partnered Son Of Man eight times without getting a winner out of him — 0 from 8. That's not necessarily anyone's fault; horses don't always fire on cue. But it's the kind of stat that makes you wonder whether the right combination has simply been caught unlucky, or whether something else clicks when a different rider is in the saddle. His first career win came at Great Yarmouth back in September 2023, and that Lingfield success in April was only his second in total across nearly three years of racing.

At five years old, Son Of Man is in the prime of his racing life. He's not a horse who wins often, but right now he's placing with impressive regularity, and a yard in form behind him isn't a bad position to be in.
