She has yet to trouble the judge or even collect a place cheque, but the steady climb from fourth to seventh to eighth to tenth — read backwards, as it happened — tells the story of a horse still finding her feet. Whether she turns that momentum into a win is the question her trainer will be asking.
That trainer is Ed Walker, who operates out of Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, one of British racing's most respected training villages. Walker's yard has sent out 80 winners already this season, which is a serious body of work — a clear sign that horses coming out of that stable are fit, well-prepared, and competitive. Society Girl is in good hands, even if she hasn't yet repaid the faith. She raced just yesterday, so she's very much in the thick of her campaign right now.
The honest summary is that she's a work in progress. Three-year-olds often are — they're still maturing physically and mentally, still learning what racing asks of them. The fact that she's been getting closer with each run is the thread worth following.
