So Many Roads

At that level, So Many Roads has won 2 from 9, or roughly 1 in every 4 to 5 attempts, which is a genuinely decent record for a horse at this stage of its career. Whillans' yard has been in good form this season, sending out 9 winners, so the horse is in capable hands.

Craig Nichol has ridden So Many Roads in 11 of its 18 races and taken 1 win from those, a win rate of around 9%. That is modest, but the partnership has remained intact, which suggests a level of trust in how Nichol understands the horse. Recent form reads 4th, 5th, 1st, 3rd, 7th going back six runs — patchy on the surface, but that third-place finish in the middle and the win before it suggest a horse capable of competing when conditions suit. Racing just four days ago, So Many Roads is clearly still fit and active. At nine years old, it is not building towards anything new — it is simply doing what it has always done, and occasionally doing it very well.
