Snapequus

Snapequus made its racecourse debut just a day ago, finishing outside the frame in its only outing so far. The 2-year-old, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien at Owning Hill in County Kilkenny, is still very much finding its feet on the track. O'Brien's yard has already sent out 160 winners this season, so there is clear form and experience in the operation — the kind of place where a young horse gets a proper education. For a debut runner, there is nothing unusual about not winning first time out; most young horses need a few races to understand what is being asked of them and to settle into the rhythm of racing. Snapequus will likely race again soon as it gains more experience and learns what it takes to be competitive.
