Sims' Law remains a work in progress for the O'Neill yard at Cheltenham. The 5-year-old has run five times without getting its head in front, though recent outings suggest the horse is capable of finishing in the middle of the field — it picked up a pair of mid-pack placings in races earlier this season. Most recently, just a day ago, it finished fourteenth, which continues a pattern of modest finishes that sit between very poor efforts and occasional signs of competence. With no wins and no placed finishes from five races, Sims' Law has yet to deliver the kind of result that would mark real progress, but the O'Neill training operation — which has sent out 51 winners already this season — will be looking to turn that corner soon.
