That second place is worth holding onto, though. Finishing second out of however many runners is a sign there is something there, and with only two races to its name, it would be premature to write any conclusions in ink. Plenty of horses take time to click.
The trainer is David Pipe, whose yard in Nicholashayne, Somerset has sent out 35 winners already this season — a strong operation by any measure, and one that clearly knows how to place a horse to best effect. Having Show Your Hand in that environment matters. Pipe is a shrewd handler, and a horse with a place already on its record, in only its second outing, is not one the yard will be giving up on. Racing just one day ago, Show Your Hand is very much in the mix right now, and the next run could tell us a great deal more.
