Shes All Pride

The recent sequence of 8-3-–-7-7-3 is a mixed picture. The pair of third-place finishes bookend the run and show she can get into a race, but the runs in between — a couple of sevenths and a blank — suggest consistency has been the main stumbling block. At Class 4 level, which sits in the middle tier of British racing, she has had three attempts without winning any of them. That is a level where you would hope a horse of her experience might start to put things together, and it remains to be seen whether she can take that next step.

What keeps things interesting is how recently she raced — just one day ago, which means this is a horse very much in the thick of an active campaign. Trainer Deborah Cole, based in Knowle in Warwickshire, has sent out four winners from her yard this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get a horse to the front. Cole will be hoping that Shes All Pride can add to that tally before long. Six races in without a win at age six is the kind of record that makes finding the right opportunity all the more important — a race that suits her on a good day could be all it takes.
