Sharp Tor

At six years old, Sharp Tor is not a youngster, but horses can take time to find their feet, and the yard responsible for its development has been in decent form. Polly Gundry trains out of Ottery St Mary in Devon and has sent out four winners already this season, which suggests Sharp Tor is at least in capable hands. Gundry operates a small rural yard far from the big racing centres, which makes every winner earned rather than assumed.

The horse raced just yesterday, so whatever happened is fresh — one finish outside the placings, a third, and another blank across its three outings to date. That single third place is the one moment of promise to hold onto. It means Sharp Tor has shown it can get competitive, just not quite competitive enough to win yet. Whether that changes depends on finding the right race and the right conditions.
