What makes the picture slightly more complicated is that Cole's yard at Whatcombe in Oxfordshire is clearly functioning well — eight winners so far this season suggests a team that knows what it's doing. Seapearl simply hasn't found a way to translate that into anything on the track. She raced just yesterday, so the yard are clearly persevering, and at three years old there is at least the argument that time is still on her side. But right now, four starts and nothing to show for them tells its own story.
