That kind of chemistry between horse and rider matters, and it suggests Burke understands how to get the best from this horse. Trainer Alastair Ralph, who operates out of Bridgnorth in Shropshire, has had 25 winners already this season, so this is clearly a yard in decent form — not a small operation treading water.

Scintillante's best distance looks to be around a mile and three to four furlongs, where it has won 1 from 4 races. That one-in-four record at those trips is noticeably better than its overall numbers, and it suggests this is a horse that needs a bit of room to settle and build — not one for sharp, quick races. Most of its career has been spent at Class 4 level, which is the bread-and-butter tier of British racing rather than the headline events, and it has won 2 of 19 races there. That 1-in-10 record at that level explains why it keeps being entered at the same grade: it can win there, but it has to be right on the day.

The last win came at Worcester in July 2025, so there is now an 11-month gap since it last reached the line first. Recent form — two second-place finishes mixed in with some mid-field efforts — suggests it is not running badly, just not quite finding that extra gear. Raced just yesterday, Scintillante is clearly being kept busy, and with Burke in the saddle and Ralph's yard in good nick, another win is probably not far away.
