He tends to compete at the lowest tier of British racing — Class 6, which is essentially the entry level — and even there he has managed only that one win from 26 races at that level, a rate of about 1 in every 26. His best distance appears to be somewhere between seven furlongs and a mile, where he has won 1 from 11 races, a 9% win rate. That still only amounts to one win, but it's where the numbers are at their least discouraging, and it suggests there's at least a version of Scarfo that is competitive at that trip.

He is trained by Bernard Llewellyn, a small yard in Fochriw in Mid Glamorgan, who has sent out 10 winners this season — a decent return for a modest operation. Charlie Tucker rides Scarfo most often and is yet to get him into the winner's enclosure across five attempts together. That Wolverhampton win in the summer of 2024 remains the one bright chapter in what has otherwise been a long and mostly unrewarded career. For now, Scarfo is the kind of horse who keeps turning up, keeps running his race, and occasionally finishes close enough to remind everyone he's still there.
