Both wins have come at different tracks — Wolverhampton in August 2025, then Musselburgh the following month — which suggests Sanbona is not a horse that needs a specific venue to produce its best. That said, it has not won in its last six races, and recent form reading 15-9-8-10-4-14 (most recent first) paints a picture of a horse that is struggling to get its nose in front right now. A fourth place somewhere in that sequence shows it can still get close, but the overall trend is one of a horse finding things tough.

The partnership with jockey Connor Beasley is the most interesting thread running through this story. Together they have won 2 of 14 races — roughly 1 in every 7 — which at 14% is meaningfully better than Sanbona's overall win rate of 8%. That gap matters. It suggests Beasley gets more out of this horse than most, and the fact the yard keeps putting him back on is a reasonable sign of confidence in that combination.

Sanbona is trained by Michael Dods, whose operation in Piercebridge, County Durham has sent out 43 winners already this season — a yard that clearly knows how to get horses ready to run. With Sanbona last racing just a day ago and still active, the search for a third career win continues. Given the horse won twice in the space of a few weeks last autumn, there is at least some evidence it can string a good run together when conditions click. Whether that happens again is the question.
