Rumbustious

That yard is Charlie Johnston's operation at Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire, one of the most productive training bases in Britain right now. Johnston is not a trainer who wastes time with horses going nowhere — if Rumbustious is still being pointed at races, there's a belief somewhere that improvement is coming. A stable firing out winners at that rate tends to know what it has.

The recent form reads 6-8-3-4 working back from the earliest run, with that third-place finish sitting in the middle of the sequence. The most recent two efforts — finishing fourth and then eighth — suggest the horse hasn't quite built on that promising moment, and there's clearly a level to find. Still only three years old, though, there is time. Some horses take longer than others to work out what racing is actually about, and a first win could still arrive before the season is out.
