The horse is trained by K R Burke, based at Coverham in North Yorkshire, and the yard is in serious form right now — 140 winners already this season, which is the kind of output that puts a stable firmly in the conversation as one of the most productive operations in the country. When a yard is firing at that rate, the horses walking through the door tend to be well-prepared, and Ruler's Pride looks like another one that arrived ready to go.
It is early days, obviously. One race tells you something, but not everything. What it does tell you is that Ruler's Pride is good enough to win on debut, which immediately puts it a cut above the majority of two-year-olds who are still finding their feet. The team will have plenty of options from here, and given the Burke yard's form, it would be no surprise to see this horse step forward quickly.
