Tinkler is not a trainer who pads his numbers with easy pickings — 37 winners in a season takes real ability and organisation across a whole team. The fact that Rousham hasn't troubled the judge yet doesn't mean the yard has given up on finding the right opportunity. With an active campaign still ongoing — the horse ran just yesterday — there is clearly a plan being worked through.

Three races is still a small sample. Some horses take time to figure out what racing is all about, and a placed finish along the way suggests there is something there worth working with. The next run will be telling.
