Finishing fourth on debut is far from a disaster — plenty of horses need that first run simply to get the experience of the racecourse, the crowds, and the noise before they start showing what they can really do. Whether Romanza is one of those will become clear soon enough.
The horse is trained by Charlie Fellowes at Newmarket, one of the most famous training centres in the world and home to some of the sport's biggest yards. Fellowes has been in good form this season, sending out 20 winners, which suggests the stable knows how to get horses ready to perform. Romanza is in capable hands, and with only one run to its name, the story is very much still to be written.
