On slightly wet or soft ground, Rogue Diplomat has won 2 of 3 races, a 67% win rate. Over distances between seven furlongs and a mile, it has won 5 of 7 races — 71%. That is an extraordinary conversion rate and suggests the horse is being placed with real intelligence by trainer James Owen, whose Newmarket yard has sent out 201 winners this season alone. That is not a yard stumbling upon success by accident.

The partnership with jockey Harry Davies also deserves a mention. Together they have won 5 of 7 races — that is wins in 71% of their outings together, a bond that goes well beyond coincidence. When Davies is booked, something tends to happen. Rogue Diplomat opened its account at Leicester in April 2025 and has barely looked back since. Still only four years old and clearly on an upward curve, there is every reason to think the best chapters of this story are still to come.
