Rocking Ends

Newmarket is Rocking Ends' fortress. He has won three of his six races there, which is a phenomenal win rate for any horse at any track. His most recent victory came four weeks ago at that same course, and he remains active—he raced just a day ago. That kind of consistency at one track, combined with his current form, suggests Tom Clover's Newmarket yard has found a horse that thrives on their particular surface. Clover himself is having a strong season with 23 winners already sent out.

The real story, however, lies in those last six runs: 5-5-1-7-5-4. Rocking Ends is clearly still capable. He placed in four of those six races and won once. When you pair that recent form with his track record at Newmarket and his love of dry ground, you can see why he remains a calculating prospect. At Class 4 level—where he has won six of his last sixteen races—he is a genuine threat whenever the ground is fast and his name appears on the card at the right track. William Carson, his most frequent jockey, has partnered him to three of those nine wins, so there is clearly a working relationship there. For a horse racing into his seventh season, Rocking Ends remains exactly what he has always been: a useful, honest runner who knows where the winning post is.
