Rockafeller Skank

The horse is only two years old, which is worth keeping in mind. Two-year-olds are essentially teenagers being asked to compete professionally, and some take longer than others to work out what's being asked of them. Whether Rockafeller Skank falls into that category or simply isn't up to much remains to be seen — but four months off the track since its last run means it's returning fresh, and that break occasionally does a young horse a world of good.

It's trained by Richard Spencer at Newmarket, one of the great centres of British racing. Spencer's yard has sent out 27 winners already this season, so there's clearly ability in the string. The question is whether Rockafeller Skank is one of those horses still finding its way, or one that's simply making up the numbers.
