That back-to-back success suggests he thrives on racing, and his record at Wolverhampton especially—where he has already tasted victory—could be worth noting if he races there again. Since those wins, he has had a slightly tougher time, with two fourth-place finishes in his most recent runs, but he bounced back with a third-place finish just days ago. He is actively racing, which means the yard clearly believe there is improvement to come.

Roc De Fer is trained by Sir Mark Prescott, a legendary figure based at Newmarket who has already sent out 47 winners this season. A yard of that calibre does not waste time with horses they do not believe in, so the fact that Prescott has kept this three-year-old in work and racing regularly suggests he sees something worth developing. Roc De Fer may not be a star in the making, but he is a genuine competitor with winning form fresh on the record. How much further he goes will depend on whether his trainer can find the right opportunities for him as he matures.
