Renewable Dream

The horse is a regular for jockey Gianluca Sanna, who has partnered it in ten races without a win. It races mostly in Class 5 competition—the lower rungs of British racing, where horses compete for modest prize money and a place in the record books is often the only prize on offer. Renewable Dream has tackled eight races at this level and won none of them. Trainer John Wainwright, based near Norton in North Yorkshire, has saddled it for all its races. The yard has been winning this season—four winners so far—but Renewable Dream has not been the source of any of those successes. The horse raced just a day ago, so it remains an active part of the stable's plans, though what those plans might achieve is an open question. For now, Renewable Dream appears to be exactly what its record suggests: a horse that tries hard enough to earn the occasional place, but never quite hard enough to win.
