What makes the situation particularly stubborn is that Pure Theory has spent most of its career competing at Class 6, the lowest tier of British racing. These are the races specifically designed to give horses like this a chance to win. Ten attempts at that level, zero wins. At some point the question has to be asked: where exactly does a win come from? The recent form offers little encouragement either — finishing 10th, 11th, and 9th in its last three completed races, with a fourth and fifth before that. The trajectory is heading in the wrong direction.
Cassidy's yard has sent out just one winner this season, so this is not a stable operating at full momentum right now, and Pure Theory has done nothing to change that picture. At four years old, the horse is young enough that improvement remains theoretically possible, and the fact it raced just yesterday means the yard are clearly not giving up. But with no wins and three places from 18 attempts, Pure Theory needs something to change — a different trip, different ground, or simply a day when everything clicks. Until that day comes, it remains one of racing's more stubborn puzzles.
