Trained by Antony Brittain at his Warthill yard in North Yorkshire, she is at least in capable hands. Brittain's operation has sent out 23 winners already this season, so the trainer clearly knows how to get horses to the line first. Princess Vivi, however, has so far resisted his best efforts.
She typically runs at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, and has gone 0 from 4 at that level — which means even against the most modestly rated horses in the sport, a win has not come. Her regular partner in the saddle is jockey Cam Hardie, who has ridden her six times without a victory. That said, her recent form figures — 6-4-4-4-13-8, reading from her most recent race backwards — do show some improvement worth noting. She has finished fourth twice in a row and most recently came home sixth, which is not a win, but it suggests she is at least running more consistently than that 13th-place finish a few races back.
She raced just yesterday, which tells you she is a busy, active horse right now. Sometimes that rhythm suits a horse; sometimes the right race at the right moment is all it takes to turn a page. For Princess Vivi, that page is still waiting to be turned — but with Brittain's yard in decent form and her recent runs trending in the right direction, it would be a brave person to say it will never come.
