Look at those last six results and you can see a horse that was running into some decent placings before things fell apart a little. Back-to-back third-place finishes were genuinely encouraging — third is at least competitive, a horse in the conversation — but since then Premier Rogue has drifted back to ninth, fourteenth, and eleventh in more recent outings, which tells you the form has gone the wrong way rather than built on those promising moments. Racing just yesterday, this is a horse very much in the middle of its season, with the yard still clearly believing there's a race to be won somewhere.
The trainer, Noel Meade, is one of the most respected names in Irish racing, operating out of Castletown in County Meath. With 42 winners on the board already this season, Meade's yard is clearly firing — which makes it all the more curious that Premier Rogue hasn't been able to get off the mark. That said, a trainer of Meade's calibre doesn't keep running a horse without a reason. The fact that Premier Rogue keeps appearing in the racecards suggests the team sees potential that the results haven't yet reflected. Whether the horse can find the right opportunity to finally break through remains the question worth watching.
