Both wins have come at Navan, which is worth paying attention to. The first came in October 2024, and the second followed on 1st March 2025 — same track, different day, same result. When a horse keeps returning to a particular venue and keeps finding a way to win there, it's rarely a coincidence. Something about the layout, the ground, the way the race tends to unfold — Navan just seems to suit this horse. Whether the team have clocked that pattern and will plan around it is an open question, but it's the kind of detail that makes a horse worth watching when the entries come round.

The current losing run stretches to six races, with recent finishes of 5th, 8th, 2nd, 8th, 4th, and 19th — that 2nd place in the middle of the sequence shows the ability is still there, even if the wins aren't coming. Positive Energy is trained by Brian Francis Cawley out of Craughwell in County Galway, a yard that has sent out 3 winners this season. It's a modest operation, which means every winner genuinely matters, and getting two from the same horse at the same track represents a real return on patience.

The most natural distance for this horse appears to be somewhere between a mile and three furlongs and a mile and four — in those races it has won 1 from 3, or about 1 in 3, which is a sharp number by any measure and suggests it's at its most dangerous when allowed to stretch out over that sort of trip. Raced just one day ago and still active, Positive Energy is a horse that rewards the patient follower. It won't win often, but when the conditions line up — Navan, right distance, Lee in the saddle — it has a habit of making things interesting.
