That second place is the detail worth holding onto. It shows the ability is still there, even if the wins have dried up.

The distance question is interesting. Over a mile and one to a mile and two furlongs — essentially a middle-distance trip, not too short, not too long — Point of Contact has won 1 from 3 races, a hit rate of 33%, or roughly 1 in every 3 attempts. That is genuinely strong by racing standards, and it suggests the horse has a natural sweet spot. The trick will be getting conditions and competition to align at the right moment.

Those competitive conditions are the other side of the story. Point of Contact has been running in some of the better races in Britain — Class 2, which sits just below the very top tier — and has yet to win at that level, drawing a blank in all three attempts. That is not necessarily a failure; it simply means the horse has been tested against quality opposition, and converting that placed form into a win at that level would represent a real step forward.
