That is a strong return at any level and suggests she is well placed by her trainer Nicky Richards, who operates out of Greystoke in Cumbria. Richards has sent out 39 winners already this season, and Pitwood Road is one of the reasons why his yard has been so productive.

Her most recent win came at Carlisle in December 2025, and by Richards' own account it was done with a bit of class. She jumped well throughout, handled the wet ground with confidence, and — perhaps most importantly — kept finding extra when it mattered most. That willingness to battle to the line is the hallmark of a horse you can rely on in a tight finish. Richards admitted afterwards that he was curious to see how far up the ratings she could climb.

What gives Pitwood Road's story an extra dimension is the financial bonus she landed at Ayr back in February 2024 — a £10,000 prize designed specifically to reward British-bred horses racing in Britain. Her previous trainer Terence O'Brien was frank about it: that bonus was the reason they were running her on this side of the Irish Sea, and it paid off handsomely. O'Brien subsequently left her with Richards to continue the British campaign, and that decision has clearly been vindicated.

She raced just yesterday and remains an active horse at eight, which in itself is worth noting — horses that stay sound and competitive at this age tend to have been well managed throughout their careers. With recent form reading a win followed by a placed run, Pitwood Road looks to be in decent nick heading into whatever comes next.
