Overall, the five-year-old has won 5 of its 34 career races — roughly 1 in every 7 — with 12 further placed finishes, so it has hit the frame in more than half its races at some point in its career. The horse clearly knows how to compete. It also has a strong preference for normal ground conditions, going 4 from 17 on a standard surface, which is where it does its best work.
The recent form, however, is a different story. Perfect Judgement has not won in its last six races, finishing outside the places in three of them entirely. Its most recent outing was just yesterday, so this is very much a horse mid-campaign rather than one being pointed at something specific. The partnership with regular jockey Jack Kearney has produced nothing so far — zero wins from seven rides together — though that statistic needs to be read alongside the wider dry spell rather than as a criticism of either party.
Trainer P J F Murphy, based in Castlecomer in County Kilkenny, has had four winners from the yard this season, so the operation is ticking along. The last time Perfect Judgement actually won was at Dundalk in February 2025, fifteen months ago — which is a long time between victories. Whether a return to Dundalk on its favoured normal ground can spark something, or whether this horse has simply found its level, is the question worth watching.
