The most recent run, just yesterday, produced a second-place finish, which is encouraging. The earlier outing ended in fifth. That's a horse that appears to be finding its feet and moving in the right direction — not dramatically, but steadily. Two runs is a very small sample, and plenty of horses take a few outings before everything clicks.
Percy's Star is trained by Chris Dwyer at Newmarket, one of British racing's most famous centres, where the flat, wide gallops have been producing racehorses for centuries. Dwyer's yard has sent out 8 winners already this season, which tells you this is a team capable of getting horses to the track in proper condition. Being stabled there, in that environment and under that level of care, is a reasonable foundation for a young horse still working things out. The next run will tell us considerably more.
