Partying made its racecourse debut just a day ago, finishing second in a competitive field. The 3-year-old, trained by
Kevin Philippart De Foy at Newmarket, showed enough to suggest there could be better to come. De Foy's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 40 winners already, and the trainer clearly saw enough potential in this horse to get it on the track. A runner-up finish on debut is no disgrace — many horses need a race or two under their belt before they settle into the demands of competition. With that first run now out of the way, Partying will have learned something valuable for its next outing.
