The numbers that really stand out, though, are at Bath. Two wins from just three races at that track is a remarkable record — most horses race there a dozen times without winning once. Racecourses suit different horses for all sorts of reasons: the camber of the bends, the gradient of the straight, the way the ground drains. Whatever it is about Bath, Party Island has clearly figured it out. And this isn't ancient history — the horse won there just this week, on 12 May 2026. That puts it bang in form at the track it loves most.

The recent run of form backs that up too. In the last six races, Party Island has won twice — that's a win rate of 33% over that stretch, more than double its career average of 14% (roughly 1 in every 7 races overall). After a couple of quieter outings, the horse has found its stride again at exactly the right moment.

When Bass is booked, it's worth paying attention.

Denis Coakley trains the horse from West Ilsley in Berkshire, a yard that has sent out 10 winners already this season — a solid season's work. Coakley tends to place Party Island in Class 4 races, which sit in the middle of the British racing pyramid, and at distances just over a mile. At 1m1f to 1m2f, the horse has won 1 from 4 (25%), suggesting that when the trip is right and the track is Bath, everything clicks. At nine years old, Party Island isn't getting any younger — but right now, it's running like a horse with plenty left to give.
