Now ten years old and still racing — he ran just yesterday — Parisencore wins roughly 1 in every 5 or 6 races, which sounds modest until you realise how consistently he puts himself in contention. His most recent win came at Newcastle just five weeks ago, and his last six runs include a win and a place, suggesting he is in solid form right now. His first win came at Haydock Park back in March 2022, and he has been a steady presence in competitive Class 3 races ever since — that level sits just below the very top tier, and his record of 3 wins from 12 races at that grade (winning 1 in every 4) shows he belongs there.
Perth seems to bring out something extra in him. Two wins from five races at that track is a 40% win rate — more than double his overall average — and that kind of course preference is something sharp racegoers pay attention to. Some horses simply like a particular track, and Parisencore is clearly one of them. His regular jockey Danny McMenamin knows him well, having ridden him 24 times and winning 4 of those — roughly 1 in every 6 — a partnership that clearly works.
His trainer Nicky Richards, who operates out of Greystoke in Cumbria and has sent out 39 winners already this season, has spoken warmly about what Parisencore can do. Richards has described him as a good, consistent performer who is nearly top class, and pointed to a strong run in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr as evidence he can compete at the highest level. Perhaps most intriguingly, Richards began schooling him over fences with an eye on chasing, believing his strong galloping style could make him an exciting prospect in that sphere. Whether that switch ever came fully is unclear, but what is clear is that this is a horse his trainer genuinely rates. At ten, with a win five weeks ago and a race yesterday, Parisencore shows no signs of slowing down.
