Paradias

Paradias is trained by Alan King at Wroughton in Wiltshire, and King's yard is having a strong season — 58 winners already this campaign. The horse has made himself at home on the all-weather surfaces that indoor tracks like Lingfield Park and Kempton use through the winter months, and that has clearly unlocked something. His three most recent wins have all come at Class 2 level — one of the better tiers of British racing — and they have come at Wolverhampton in December 2024, Kempton in January 2025, and Lingfield in February 2026. Three top-tier wins in roughly 14 months tells you this is a horse currently operating near the peak of his powers.

Lingfield in particular seems to suit him like a glove. He has won 2 of just 3 races there, which is a remarkable conversion rate — most horses that have run at a track a handful of times are lucky to win once. King himself has noted that he is learning to relax better as he has got older, which matters enormously over longer trips, and Paradias does his best work at distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles. On normal ground he wins roughly 1 in 3, which is an exceptional figure — the equivalent of a tennis player winning a third of the matches they enter at the toughest venues.

Rossa Ryan has ridden him in 13 of his 35 races and won twice together, picking up those two big-race wins that have defined this phase of his career. The recent form reads 5th, unplaced, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 4th from his last six outings — not flawless, but there is a winner sitting right in the middle of it, and he raced just one day ago, so the story is far from over. At seven, with experience on his side and a trainer who clearly knows how to place him, Paradias looks like a horse with at least another chapter still to write.
