His recent form has been patchy. He placed fourth most recently, then fifth before that, but did manage a win at Sedgefield back in September 2025. That is now eleven months ago, which is a long absence from the winners' circle and raises the question of whether he is struggling to find the right race setup. The last six runs read 4-2-4-1-–-5, showing he has been mixing modest placings with the odd second, but nothing has quite landed. Importantly, he raced just yesterday, so the yard clearly believes he still has something to offer.
Freddie Gingell has ridden him twice and won both times—a 33 percent win rate over just a handful of rides that suggests the partnership has clicked. His trainer Paul Nicholls, based in Ditcheat, Somerset, has sent out 91 winners this season, so he knows how to train a winner. The question now is whether Paddy De Pole can find his way back to one, particularly on normal ground where his record shows he is genuinely competitive. He competes mostly in lower-tier races, winning about one in every five at that level, so the opportunities are there—he just needs to find the right race and ground combination again.
