The number that really stands out is his record at Kempton Park. Three wins from seven visits to the track — winning almost half the time he goes there — is the kind of dominance that turns a racecourse into a personal fiefdom. He won there in March 2023, then came back and did it again in March 2024, both times at Class 2 level. Tracks suit certain horses for reasons that are often difficult to explain, but whatever Kempton asks of a racehorse, Outlaw Peter has the answer.

His partnership with jockey Harry Cobden is one of the most striking statistics in this profile. In 18 races together, Cobden has won on him 9 times — exactly 50%, or one in every two rides. That is not luck. That is two athletes who understand each other. After winning at Haydock Park just last week, Cobden was effusive on Racing TV, calling it a masterful bit of placing by trainer Paul Nicholls and praising the horse's love of the conditions — normal-to-fast ground with cheekpieces fitted. "He turned up in fine fettle," Cobden said, and the result showed it.

Nicholls, one of the most decorated trainers in the sport, has sent out 92 winners from his yard in Somerset this season alone. He was candid about a difficult previous campaign, admitting he could never get Outlaw Peter right and that a line should be drawn through it. But he was equally clear that the horse came into this season full of energy and enthusiasm — and Outlaw Peter has made good on that promise. Nicholls noted that he has won first time out in three of his five seasons, the kind of consistency that tells you this is a horse that does his homework at home and arrives ready.

His recent form reads 3-1-2-4-8-3, and that win last week at Haydock gives the sequence a proper full stop. Still racing, still winning at ten — Outlaw Peter is very much a horse in form.
